School Library
Of all the worlds that man has created, that of books is the most powerful.
Heinrich Heine
Our school library is designed as a multifunctional space, accommodating both teaching and learning, as well as communication and relaxation.
It offers many different types of media in various languages: books, comics/mangas, magazines and non-books (e.g. audio books, films). In addition, our library has the possibility of using PCs. This is the only way it can impart reading, media and information skills. There is something for every age group.
Pre-schoolers and students up to the age of 18 can browse and find what they are looking for in the library. In primary school, the school library is the place for initial reading experiences, it awakens the joy of reading and imparts initial library and media skills and the basics of research. The school library is integrated into our timetable so that lessons can take place in the library.
In higher grades, our school library serves not only to motivate reading but also for information retrieval, independent learning, and the acquisition of media and information literacy skills.
During breaks, it serves as a retreat for reading and relaxation, as a meeting place for students to exchange news and information, to play various
board games and to research assigned school tasks. It is open daily from 7.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
„The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to successful work in today’s information- and knowledge-based society. The school library teaches students the ability to learn for life, develops the
imagination and thus enables them to live as responsible citizens.“
