German as a Foreign Language

Language lessons at DISS take place from kindergarten through preschool, primary school, and secondary level (grades 5-6). Language lessons are conducted in differentiated small groups, which are divided according to age and language level.

Regular test procedures in the school for listening, reading comprehension, and text production reveal the increase in competence and learning and enable students to change levels twice a year.
In practice, it looks like this:
  • Each level group deals with the same topic as the other groups at the same time.
  • Language learning is made possible in various ways. Through the motor, cognitive, and emotional language experience, the vocabulary is consolidated more quickly and stored in long-term memory.
  • The lessons follow a structured timetable, which is tailored to each language level and implemented in a playful way.
In secondary school, the linguistic challenges in subject lessons increase. Here, German-language subject lessons (DFU) gain enormous importance. This requires language-sensitive teaching from the subject teachers and is implemented responsibly.
